Quote: Douglas Adams

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Death Star Conspiracy

Was there an Imperial conspiracy to destroy the Death Star? Over at Websurdity there is an article in the blog archive that certainly makes a compelling case the article in question is Uncomfortable Questions: Was the Death Star attack an inside Job

The article outlines the inconsistencies in the official story of how the massive Death Star space station was destroyed. Here is just one of the juicy questions/issues raised;

5) Why did Lord Vader decide to break all protocols and personally pilot a lightly armored TIE Fighter? Conveniently, this placed Lord Vader outside of the Death Star when it was destroyed, where he was also conveniently able to escape from a large-sized rebel fleet that had just routed the Imperial forces. Why would Lord Vader, one of the highest ranking members of the Imperial Government, suddenly decide to fly away from the Death Star in the middle of a battle? Did he know something that the rest of the Imperial Navy didn’t

They also have the rarely seen image of where Emperor Palpatine was when he heard of the destruction.

I recommend heading over to read the full article, it will really raise some questions about the empire.
